Glyphosate: The Invisible Ingredient in Our Food System

Glyphosate: The Invisible Ingredient in Our Food System

What Happens to Your Body When You Eat Processed vs Whole Foods Daily Reading Glyphosate: The Invisible Ingredient in Our Food System 4 minutes

At Two Brothers Organic Farms, we’ve always believed that food should be simple, transparent, and deeply rooted in trust. What grows on our farms eventually becomes a part of your body, your family, and your everyday life. That belief naturally forces us to ask uncomfortable questions about modern food systems, especially about what doesn’t show up on labels.

One such invisible presence is glyphosate.

Most people have never heard of it, yet it quietly sits at the centre of industrial agriculture today. Glyphosate is a chemical herbicide widely used to kill weeds and increase crop efficiency. Over time, it has moved far beyond weed control. In many farming systems, it is sprayed directly on crops just before harvest to speed up drying and maximise yield. While this might make farming faster and cheaper, it introduces something far more troubling into the food chain.

Glyphosate does not remain confined to fields. It enters the soil, seeps into crops, passes into animal feed, and eventually reaches the human body. From soil to crop, from crop to cow, from cow to milk, this chemical travels silently, leaving behind residues that most consumers never knowingly choose.

The reason glyphosate has become such a global concern is not speculation or fear-mongering. It is backed by years of scientific research and regulatory debate. Several international health bodies have linked glyphosate exposure to serious health risks, including cancer. 20+ countries across the world have either banned or heavily restricted its use, recognising that the long-term consequences outweigh short-term agricultural convenience. The human body was never designed to process chemical residues consumed daily over decades, and yet that is exactly what modern food systems make possible.

What makes this issue even more complex is that avoiding glyphosate isn’t as simple as choosing “organic.” While organic farming is an important step away from synthetic chemicals, glyphosate contamination can still occur through neighbouring farms, shared water sources, or contaminated animal feed. Truly eliminating glyphosate requires a deeper commitment, one that starts at the soil level and extends through every link in the farming ecosystem.

That commitment led us to make a decision that hadn’t been made before.

Two Brothers Organic Farms is proud to be India’s first glyphosate-free ghee.

For us, this meant rethinking farming from the ground up. It meant working only with farmers who are willing to take the harder, slower path. Farming without glyphosate demands patience, regenerative practices, careful crop rotation, and clean, chemical-free fodder for animals. It requires rebuilding soil health instead of forcing yield from exhausted land. Most importantly, it requires integrity, choosing what is right over what is easy.

Our decision to go completely glyphosate-free was not driven by trends or labels. It came from a simple question: Would we feed this to our own families every single day? If the answer was anything less than a confident yes, it didn’t belong on our farms.

This matters because food is cumulative. What you eat today doesn’t just affect you today, it shapes your health over years. Reducing exposure to harmful chemicals is not about instant results; it is about long-term well-being, stronger immunity, and respecting the body’s natural intelligence. When food is grown cleanly, it supports the body instead of burdening it.

In many ways, choosing glyphosate-free food is not a modern innovation. It is a return to wisdom that existed long before chemical shortcuts entered agriculture. Our grandparents trusted their food because it came from living soil, healthy animals, and farming practices that worked with nature rather than against it.

At Two Brothers Organic Farms, we are not trying to reinvent food. We are simply trying to protect what food was always meant to be, pure, nourishing, and honest.

Because your food should never come with invisible ingredients.
